Busy in the studio restocking some sun catchers in preparation for an event at Stamford Arts Centre with Stamford Quality Market on Sunday September 28th, This is a new venture for me so I am looking forward to seeing how the day goes. Then the following Saturday will find me returning to the Castle Square at Lincoln with the Lincoln BIG Artists Market. I’m going to have to start thinking Christmas soon! Watch out for angels and trees…

Clearing and Preparing

After a good day at Easton Walled Gardens this last weekend I’m busy clearing and sorting the studio ready for a workshop and making space for a repair job.

I’m holding on to a double panel commission on a Moroccan theme until the clients are ready to fit it.

This one has been worked in a different colour range to my previous versions and is altogether softer. I can’t wait to see it fitted.

Giffords Circus

I celebrated my birthday at Giffords Circus in Gloucestershire. It was a wonderful night watching contortionists and jugglers, balancing acts and clowning, spotty dogs and horses. Lots of ideas in my head which I hope to work into glass.

Afterwards a great meal cooked by my friend’s son, the lovely Olly Halas who cooks excellent stuff in the Circus Sauce Vehicle, feeding us lucky one’s after the entertainment.

Cutting glass

I’ve just about finished cutting the glass for a new commission. Working in two panels with copper foiling and leading there are over 350 pieces of glass! Now to start putting it together.

I had a lovely day in North Norfolk this week. A long walk along the beach with friends and dogs. The dogs love the water, though were not too sure when the sand shifted under their feet with the waves.

Water isn’t the easiest image to convey visually. I had a go for a pair of panels to go above some doors. I worked on the idea of underwater movement with rocks, stems and bubbles.

Simple Panel Design

Just finishing a panel to go above a door. A simple design to go with the tiling in the room. Playing with a mixture of textured clear glass, we’ve included coloured squares to again match. Simple, but effective.

Then preparing for the final Shedglas Design Introductory Workshop of the season, a full group for copper foiling. I’ll be getting more dates out for the autumn/winter season at the end of this month.

And look out for me at Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday, 19th, where I will be attending one of Stamford Artisans Guild’s events.

Busy week

It’s been a busy week. While working on some commissions and a repair I also had a merry group of ladies for an introductory leaded stained ¬†glass workshop yesterday and last Saturday I attended my first event at Lincoln’s Castle Square with Lincoln BIG Artists Market.

The position cannot be faulted with the cathedral on one side and the castle on the other. The sun shone on us and the planes from Waddington  air show cruised overhead. The stand had a strong structure that meant that I could hang more of the heavier leaded work that I have recently been working on.
